Rhythm, Universe and Life

Abstract

The universe's existence and the rhythm of its vast mechanisms have captivated scholars, philosophers, and theologians for millennia. A rhythm does not only mean musical rhythm it contains the concept of predictable, cyclical patterns in cosmic world. As per Modern Chrono-biology the rhythmic patterns are very fundamental to all living systems. Life exists within a sea of vibration, and rhythm is fundamental to all life. This rhythmic system is the base for communication and guidance in entire universe towards health and well being in all existing systems irrespective of the fact that it is present on earth, in deep see, in skies or beyond the limits of the universe. This paper undertakes a comparative study of Islamic and Western perspectives on the rhythmic structure and existential fabric of the universe, with particular emphasis on scriptural references, metaphysical underpinnings, and cosmological insights.
Drawing from the Qur'an and the Bible, alongside scientific and philosophical treatises from both traditions, this study explores how divine rhythm governs cosmic harmony and what this implies about the nature of existence. The rhythm has a great influence on existing bodies including human, animal, insects and even every type of existing mass materials. The winds blow, rains fall, water keeps its level, fire is hot etc. The cosmic bodies are bounded with certain rhythmic traits. The Big Bang theory provided a great deal of knowledge about rhythm. The sound and light have their own rhythmic effects on all creatures in the universe. Music is one of the most important factors of rhythm. The entire universe is based on certain basic principles of coherence and rhythm.
The rhythm is the basic law of sustenance and continuity of actions which survive the entire universe and its system. The days and nights, seasons and germination of plants, fruits are result of rhythm. The study shortly includes divine sign (Aayat) pointing towards the wisdom and balance (mizan) of Creation of Allah.
