Abstract

The development of water-resistant emulsion paints has gained significant attention in recent years due to the growing demand for sustainable and environmentally friendly coatings (Lee, 2021). Dimethylol urea (DMU) is a promising binder material due to its excellent adhesion properties and resistance to water and chemicals (Osemeahon & Barminas, 2022). However, its brittleness and formaldehyde emission limit its application (Achi, 2003). Hydroxylated vegetable oils (HVOs), on the other hand, offer excellent flexibility and water resistance (Manawwer, 2024). By combining DMU and HVOs, it is possible to create composites with improved properties.
