Necessity for a Paradigm Shift in Academic Leadership: The Foresight of Higher Education

Abstract

Higher education’s academic leadership is evolving as a result of political, social, economic, and technical forces. Today’s universities must contend with issues like declining financing, a more diverse student body, globalization, and escalating competitiveness. Traditional leadership styles must give way to more flexible and strategic methods in order to accommodate these developments. This study emphasizes the necessity of a paradigm change in academic leadership by fusing visionary leadership with effective management. It suggests that in order to guarantee institutional growth and sustainability in a setting that is changing quickly, academic leaders must take on the roles of strategists, political navigators, people centered leaders, and vision builders
