Evaluation of the Impact of Effective Management of Public Enterprises on National Development in Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation (Abc) Yola 2015-2018

Abstract

This study evaluated the impact of effective management of public enterprises on national development using Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Yola, as a case study for the period 2015–2018. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population comprised 179 staff of the corporation, from which a sample of 102 respondents was selected using a stratified sampling technique. Primary data were collected through a structured questionnaire, while secondary data were obtained from relevant books, journals, and government publications. Ninety (90) completed questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS Version 20.0, employing descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis. The findings revealed that effective management significantly enhances organizational performance through improved leadership, supervision, communication, employee motivation, accountability, and efficient resource utilization. These management practices were found to improve service delivery, operational efficiency, and employee productivity, thereby enabling Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation to effectively discharge its public service mandate and contribute to national development. The study concluded that effective management is a critical factor in improving the performance of public enterprises and promoting national development. It recommended strengthening leadership capacity, enhancing staff training and motivation, promoting transparency and accountability, improving communication and participatory decision-making, and providing adequate financial and technological resources to improve public service delivery.
